Much as I favor your soulful and falsetto forays, I love it when you rock. This one has strains of early Beatles in sound but late in sentiment; how I identified with the declarative "Can work twenty hours like a dog with my guitar," capturing the stigma of laziness levied at artistry when in fact the work is relentless, existentially terrifying, shamanistically magnificent, and often undertaken of necessity in the margins; and the wistful sentiment, "I would rock every night if I just got a break." Me too. - Ethan

Lyrics

When you said that you love me
I thought you loved me
When you said that you need me
I thought you’d need me

When you told me that you’d never leave me
I thought you’d stay forever
When you told me that you wouldn’t leave me
I thought that you meant never

Now I can see an empty space
Where I used to see your face
And I will stay right here in case
You change your mind
and come back home to me

When you said I was crazy
That didn’t faze me
But when you said I was lazy
I said you’re crazy

I can work like a dog twenty hours a day
With my guitar and
I would rock every night if I just got a break
With my guitar and

(chorus)

When you said that you’d tame me
How could you blame me
For my dogged resistance
To your persistence

I am only a boy in the shell of a man
And I can’t think straight
There is only so much that I will understand
Until it’s too late

(chorus)
