This song has probably my favorite bridge of yours... if that’s what we’ll call it (“would there be no place to hide...”). There’s something about it that gives me a really strong sense of place. hard to describe but it’s early high school during sunset at the outdoor amphitheater in Houston. Surely not what you were seeing when you wrote it, but there ya go! - Carl

Lyrics

There’s nothing new under the sun
There’s nothing new under the sun
So if I walk away
What would you care?
And if I cried today
Would you be aware?
And if I died today
Would you feel me lingering there...
Before I melt in the air?

There’s nothing new under the sun
No place to be, no race to be won
And if I float away
Would you be alone?
And would you give away
All that you own?
And if I try to say
Something that you’ve always known
Would it chill you right to the bone?

And would there be no place to hide
From what you are feeling inside
And from the pain you are keeping alive
So you won’t go numb living under the under the sky

And to tell the truth, each second is
It’s own event, of infinite bliss
And as it spins around, you gotta light up the mist
To really see what it is

And there will be no place to hide
From what you are feeling inside
And from the pain you are keeping alive
So you won’t go numb living under the under the sky
